Last but not least, thyme, apart from its immune-boosting and digestive properties, has also been used as an anxiety-reducing herb for thousands of years with its therapeutic and aromatic gifts to create a positive effect on our feelings and our overall mood. Calming Recipes:

Thyme tea or thyme water:

Regarding thyme, you may boil the herb and enjoy a warm cup of thyme tea adding a teaspoon of honey to get some sweetness, or just make thyme water! It’s super easy as the only thing you have to do is to fill a bottle with room temperature water, add some thyme sprigs, and let it soak overnight. In the morning remove the sprigs, add lemon and cucumber slices, mint or some berries, or any optional ingredient you desire, and drink throughout the day getting all the healing and super hydration benefits. Just keep in mind it is very important to use fresh thyme to get all its greatest gifts.

Soothing essence spirit:

  • 2 teaspoons dried lavender
  • 2 teaspoons of passionflower
  • 1 teaspoon dried valerian
  • 1 teaspoon dried orange peel
  • half a teaspoon of dried ginger, if desired
  • 100 ml of alcohol

Take a jar, add all the ingredients inside and add alcohol. Now you can close it and store in a dark and cool place and leave it for 3-4 weeks, but don’t miss shaking the jar almost every day. When it’s ready strain the mixture, put it in an airtight container, and store again. Your spirit is ready! So when you are in a high-stress situation you may add some drops of the spirit to your hot/cold tea/chocolate or to your glass of water and consume it. It helps you relax and fall asleep faster. But pay attention! The herbs are safe but their combination should be avoided when somebody follows antidepressants and anxiolytic medications.
