Yes, it’s already viral on TikTok!

If you’ve ever traveled to Greece, apart from the warm sun, the crystal clear sea, the magical landscapes, and the generous hospitality which is a timeless characteristic of Greek culture, there is not even a chance not to have tasted the super famous and Greece’s national food, the so-called feta cheese! Feta is undoubtedly one of the most used ingredients in many Greek meals like salads, main courses, snacks even desserts, and this time it seems that TikTok smells like Greece with numerous users taking over the app to cook Feta pasta! But what is fetapasta? We are talking about an exceedingly easy, extremely creamy oven-baked pasta, made with a whole block of feta cheese nestled into a pint of cherry tomatoes, with chiles, garlic, and pure olive oil. The yummy recipe comes from Finnish food blogger Jenni Häyrinen, whose “uunifetapasta” triggered a local craze for the delicious creamy fare, and then it was early January when Americans made the dish viral on TikTok under the hashtag #fetapasta with over 669 million views so far!

According to a report by the New York Times, the ecstatic fans of feta cheese created such a big demand to the market ranging from New York City’s Saxelby Cheesemongers to national supermarket chain Kroger and made them struggling to restock the product. In fact, by mid-February when feta was the No. 1 search term on the Instacart grocery delivery it was reported temporarily empty feta shelves at local stores like Harris Teeter supermarkets. Mr. Birney, manager of Kroger’s specialty cheese counters, mentioned to Times, ” This is the largest and most geographically broad interest and sales increase in a product that I have personally ever seen”. Although the country does not experience any shortage now, it is quite obvious that cheese sales are certainly up this period. So have you ever tried the recipe? If not, run to TikTok, check the recipe now, and … Bon appetite!
