Using a beautiful blooming lavender field in French Provence as a catwalk for its fashion show last summer, Simon Porte Jacquemus doesn’t stop surprising us! Yesterday, the French designer presented his Spring/Summer 2021 collection under the name of “L’ Amour” in a marvelous scenery; an immense wheat field near Us in the French Vexin Regional National Park, an hour away from Paris. But what does “L’Amour” mean? As he said on his latest post on Instagram the collection is a declaration of love for his team.

“As an idea for this collection, L’ Amour began as something different. I imagined people gathered together celebrating love. …What’s so beautiful about L’ Amour is how it can endure – sometimes even grow stronger – in the absence of people being together. Not long after my team was separated from each other, we were in our homes feeling the desire to work, and a new vision of the collection emerged.”

Regarding women’s collection, chic silhouettes were walking in summer maxi dresses, statement tops, and loose wide-leg pants in soft shades of ecru, grey, beige, white, ivory, and mint green while for the men’s collection Picasso motifs and cut-out hearts were some of the main characteristics for the shirts and blazers. Of course, Jacquemus bestseller’s bag, Chiquito handbag, as well as the new variation of the house, Chiquito Noeud, were featured on this distinguished wood plank runway 600 meters long!

Due to France’s strict social distancing rules, only 100 guests had the chance to enjoy the show seated in the wheat field. According to Vogue, Jacquemus said about the special setup that …

“was meant to evoke authenticity as well as the brand’s more romantic side”.

On a pre-show interview, he also said that he wanted to express love and celebration,

“like a simple country wedding or a harvest festival.”

With Mother Nature being the protagonist of the show and the earthly colors of his collection, the Maison created an absolutely “back-to-nature” atmosphere, representing our difficult times with us all staying at home. Jacquemus born with a talent in storytelling mesmerized us once again, what do you think?
