Milan Fashion Week SS 2021 Fave Highlights

Milan Fashion Week

Here are our fave looks from MFW SS 2021!

As the glamorous Milan Fashion Week has come to a close being so different than the previous ones, we at “Gals and the City” have rounded up our fave highlights for Spring-Summer 2021. We saw dolls, avatars, virtual paths, and fantasy dream spaces in which sustainability, technology, and longevity were the basic themes during the “phygital” MFW. With the help of digital technology, brands created something different this year trying to be attractive on a market that is objectively frozen; electric looks, pioneering moments, and vibrant runways were featured with the city welcoming over 50 brands in its fashion week. Fashion Houses such as Prada and Versace presented their Spring-Summer collection via a digital display, whereas others such as Fendi and Dolce & Gabbana opted for a live, physical catwalk with models and a real audience.

Versace show was undoubtedly unique, a moment in history with Donatella Versace traveling us underwater in a magical scenery ruled by Medusa and populated by strong men and women. Plus-size models like Ashley Graham and Precious Lee were the stars of this fashion week walking on the electric runway of Versace, Fendi and more. Opting for the logic of less is more, Dsquared2 votes minimal; sophisticated shapes, bold dresses, and punk details completed the “rock soul” mood of the collection. On the other hand, Etro winks at the nautical theme and celebrates the Italian summer focusing on the charm of the Riviera-style while introducing new fashion items such as marine chains, anchors, motifs of ropes, stripes, and shells. In the same line, Dolce & Gabbana, inspired by the different cultures of Sicily presented a colorful and bright collection for the next island days! The most surprising? Moschino created an unprecedented elaborate puppet show with pupped miniature-models catwalking, displaying breathtaking gowns, while violins playing softly in the background and editors sitting for the front row. Going for some more androgynous choice? Prada’s iconic style opted for an industrial and streetwear mood with basic pieces that last over time. But, with all the high brands and fashion houses showing their latest creations, which one could it be the next fashion trend? Check out our fave choices:

Dolce & Cabbana [Sicilian Treasure]

Prada [Iconic & Timeless]

Etro [Riviera Callin’]

Moschino [Baroque Romance]

N°21 [Sophisticated Simplicity]

Dsquared2 [Rock soul]
