Hydration is more than just water

Do you love working out? Are you sweating a lot? You lose water and by extension the precious electrolytes, especially chloride and sodium! Did you recently get cold and flu? Or just did you spend your night out drinking with friends? If yes, alcohol dehydrates you! In any case, you need electrolytes to stay fresh and hydrated!

Electrolytes are vital and precious for our nervous system and muscles as well, as they try to maintain an optimal body environment. By keeping you hydrated and helping regulate your internal PH, electrolytes assure that the internal of your body is well – balanced.  Did you know electrolytes even make you burn calories more easily? Yes, that’s true! Therefore, you should take an adequate amount of them from your daily diet to keep your body functioning as it should.

Where can I  find electrolytes?

We have rounded up the  food sources that boost your electrolyte levels:

  • Chloride: Table salt
  • Potassium: Fruits and vegetables like bananas, avocado, watermelon, tomato, and sweet potato.
  • Magnesium: Seeds and nuts
  • Sodium: Cheese and table salt
  • Calcium: Dairy products, fortified dairy alternatives, and green leafy vegetables

4 Homemade recipes that really help you!

1st recipe:

  • Fill a big bottle of water
  • Add slices of cucumber
  • Add slices of lemon
  • Add some Chia seeds

….and keep drinking it all day long!


2nd recipe:

  • Coconut water
  • Chia seeds


3rd recipe:

  • Fill a bottle of water
  • Add raspberries
  • Add sliced lime
  • Add 10 – 20 mint leaves


4th recipe:

  • Fill a bottle of water
  • Use grapefruit
  • Add cucumber
  • Add 20 mint leaves

Mix them all, leave them for about 5-10 minutes and enjoy it!
